Congress Begins Indefinite Sit-in Protest in Sangvi
Narendra Bansode says agitation will continue until demands are met
Pimpri-Chinchwad : The Pimpri-Chinchwad Congress launched an indefinite sit-in protest at Samvidhan Chowk in Sangvi on Thursday, demanding the restoration of the Constitution’s Preamble memorial and legal action against those responsible for its alleged illegal removal and vandalism.
The protest began at 11 am, with Congress workers, representatives of progressive and social organisations, and Constitution supporters participating in the agitation.
Congress city president Narendra Bansode said the incident was serious and demanded an impartial inquiry and strict legal action against those responsible. He asserted that the protest would continue until the demands were fulfilled.
Bansode also said that the ‘H’ ward office of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation had informed the Police Commissioner in writing about the incident on October 15, 2026.
“The Constitution’s dignity and the protection of its values are our collective responsibility,” Bansode said, urging the administration to take immediate action.
The protesters stressed the importance of safeguarding the constitutional principles of equality, liberty, fraternity and justice. They appealed to citizens, progressive movements and social organisations to support the agitation.
Those present included All India Congress Committee secretary Prithviraj Sathe, social activist Maruti Bhapkar, thinker Manav Kamble, OBC Sangharsh Samiti representative Ananda Kudale, Chhava Maratha Yuva Mahasangh president Dhanaji Yelkar Patil and several local Congress leaders and activists.
