Hinjewadi Metro Delay Exposes Mahayuti Government’s ‘Politics Over Public Interest’: Aaditya Thackeray

• Thackeray Accuses BJP-led Government of Delaying Public Transport Project for Inauguration Politics, Demands Immediate Start of Metro Services

Pune : Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray has slammed the BJP-led Maharashtra government over the delay in launching the Hinjewadi Metro, alleging that the project is being held up for political credit. He targeted Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, saying the pending issues could be resolved within a week if there was political will. Thackeray urged the government to stop waiting for an inauguration ceremony and start the Metro service for commuters immediately.

The silent march saw strong participation from IT professionals, local residents and around 500 women, who took to the streets to protest the worsening traffic congestion and lack of basic civic infrastructure in Hinjewadi. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MLA Aaditya Thackeray joined the march, keeping his earlier promise to support the residents’ agitation. Several senior party leaders and local office-bearers also participated in the protest. The protest was attended by Shiv Sena Secretary Suraj Chavan, Pune District In-charge Sachin Padwal, Pune District President Prakash Bhegde, Ramdas Dhanwate, Pune City President Vasant More, Pimpri-Chinchwad City President Chetan Pawar, Joint District In-charge Gajanan Tharkude, Sanjay More and several other party leaders and office-bearers.

Aaditya Thackeray said, hitting out at the Mahayuti government. Frustrated by deaths caused by potholes, crippling traffic congestion and the lack of basic infrastructure, residents from Hinjewadi, Maan and Marunji took to the streets to voice their anger. Taxpayers deserve better roads and basic civic facilities in return for the taxes they pay, he said.

Referring to the recent march in Pune against DJs, Aaditya Thackeray said the government must listen to the voice of ordinary Pune residents and local communities, rather than taking decisions based only on political organisations and workers. With the Ganesh festival approaching, he pointed out that inconsistent restrictions on DJs across different constituencies have created confusion and resentment. Thackeray urged the Maharashtra government to take a clear and uniform decision on DJ use during Ganeshotsav that is acceptable to both festival organisers and local residents.
