Pune Emerges as Major GCC Hub; 130 Centres Already Operational

• CM Fadnavis targets 800+ GCCs as Maharashtra pushes global business and job opportunities

Pune : Pune is rapidly emerging as a major hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), with more than 130 centres currently operational in the city, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said.

He was speaking at the inauguration of Magnum Ice Cream’s Global Business Solutions Centre at EON West IT Park in Wakad. Fadnavis said the state government aims to make Pune the country’s leading GCC destination and expressed confidence that the number of GCCs could cross 800 in the coming year.

The new Magnum centre is expected to create more than 1,000 direct jobs, along with additional indirect employment. The facility will use artificial intelligence, automation, logistics and other advanced technologies to strengthen the company’s global business operations.

Fadnavis said Maharashtra has become a preferred investment destination for GCCs due to its skilled workforce and industry-friendly ecosystem. He added that the government is focusing on improving infrastructure and resolving IT-related issues in Pune, including those in Hinjewadi.

Principal Secretary Dr P. Anbalagan said GCCs are important drivers of economic growth. He said around 130 new or expanded GCC units have been established in Maharashtra over the past 18 months, while the state has set a target of developing 400 GCC companies and more than 700 units in the coming years.

Magnum CFO Abhijit Bhattacharya said Pune was selected due to Maharashtra’s strong industrial ecosystem, connectivity and responsive administration.
