Illegal LPG Refilling Racket Busted in Pune; One Arrested, 103 Cylinders Seized
- Accused caught red-handed while illegally refilling domestic LPG into commercial cylinders
Pune: In a major crackdown on illegal LPG activities, Kalepadal Police have arrested a man for unlawfully refilling commercial gas cylinders using domestic LPG, exploiting the ongoing market shortage. A suspected was caught red-handed during a raid conducted in the Handewadi area.
The arrested suspects has been identified as Nitin Hanumant Holkar (38), a resident of Handewadi. Acting on a tip-off received during routine patrolling, Police Constable Mahadev Shinde learned that a person was illegally transferring gas from domestic cylinders into commercial ones.
Upon reaching the spot, police look out a Super Carry tempo (MH 14 KA 7917) parked near a shop, containing both domestic and commercial cylinders. Inside “Kavya Multi Services,” Holkar was found actively refilling gas into commercial and small 5 kg cylinders through illegal means. During interrogation, the Holkar confessed to the crime. Police seized a total of 103 gas cylinders and a four-wheeler, collectively valued at Rs. 10 lakh 9 thousand 300 hundred.
A case has been registered against him at Kalepadal Police Station under relevant sections. The operation was carried out under the guidance of DCP Rajkumar Shinde and ACP Atulkumar Navgire, with the team led by Senior Police Inspector Mansingh Patil and Assistant Police Inspector Amit Shete along with other officers.
