Key Policy Issues on Parking, Metro and ERTS to Get Push : Abhishek Barne

PIMPRI : The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Standing Committee will expedite decisions on key policy matters and strategic projects, including the parking policy, Metro and ERTS, said Standing Committee Chairman Abhishek Barne.

The weekly meeting of the Standing Committee was held on Tuesday (August 25) under Barne’s chairmanship. Various issues, including computer system security, women’s empowerment, fisheries, road development, medical facilities, restructuring of regional offices and educational initiatives for students, were discussed.

Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, Barne said proposals related to important city projects would be given priority and taken forward expeditiously.

In view of the upcoming Ganeshotsav, the administration has been directed to arrange mobile immersion chariots, strengthen Nirmalya collection and ensure adequate cleanliness measures.

The Urban Transport Department has also been instructed to inspect all cycle tracks and remove encroachments to ensure that they remain safe and accessible to citizens.

Barne further directed officials to compile detailed information on vacant buildings and plots under the civic body’s possession. Steps have also been initiated to reopen municipal swimming pools.

Following a demand by Standing Committee member Babasaheb Tribhuvan for action against the widespread use of plastic bags in markets, officials were asked to undertake awareness drives encouraging citizens to use cloth bags and reduce plastic consumption.
