MLC Amit Gorkhe Raises 14 Key Issues in Legislature

Pimpri : MLC Amit Gorkhe raised 14 key public interest issues concerning Pimpri-Chinchwad and Maharashtra during the Monsoon Session of the Maharashtra Legislature, highlighting matters related to public safety, infrastructure, social justice, education, and the environment.

One of the major outcomes of his intervention was the approval of ₹5 lakh financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the families of the 22 people who died in the Dapodi-Phugewadi illicit liquor tragedy. Gorkhe’s persistent follow-up also led to the government’s announcement of action under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the main accused, transfer of the investigation to the CID, and the formation of special teams to crack down on the methanol supply network.

During the session, Gorkhe also raised issues including MIDC redevelopment, water security, safety norms for gaming zones, atrocities against backward communities, empowerment of women farmers, environmental protection, illegal tree felling, and engineering education in Marathi.

Meanwhile, expressing solidarity with the victims of the Moshi garbage dump tragedy, Gorkhe decided not to hold his customary post-session press conference, stating that the move was a mark of respect and sensitivity towards the bereaved families.
