25.865 Kg Ganja Seized in Wakad; Three Arrested

Narcotics worth ₹23.63 lakh seized along with car and mobile phones

Pimpri : Wakad police have arrested three persons and seized 25.865 kg of ganja allegedly brought for sale near Kaspate Chowk in Wakad. The total value of the seized contraband and other items has been estimated at Rs. 23,63,250.

According to police, they received information that some persons would arrive near an incomplete bridge over the Mula River near Kaspate Chowk carrying a large quantity of ganja. Acting on the information, Wakad police laid a trap and conducted a raid at the spot.

The police caught Aba Malhari Khalate, Pramod Bhimrao Garudkar and Gorakshnath Shivaji Walke red-handed. During the search, police seized 25 kg 865 grams of ganja valued at Rs. 12.93 lakh, along with a car and mobile phones. The total value of the seized property is Rs. 23,63,250.

A complaint was lodged at Wakad police station by police constable Vandu Gire. A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police are investigating the source of the ganja and where it was allegedly being taken for sale.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Vitthal Salunkhe and Assistant Police Inspector Srinivas Darade, along with Police Sub-Inspector Marne and police personnel including Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Dale, Police Head Constables Vandu Gire, Vijay Ghadge, Vijay Bhusare, Mohammad Nadaf, Sachin Gaikwad and Vijay More, and Police Constables Kaurteya Kharade, Dnyandev Zhende, Karbhari Palve, Vikram Bhagat, Samadhan Kaynle, Pramod Gaikwad, Abhishek Mande and Mangesh Lokhande.

Further investigation is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Srinivas Darade.
