File Culpable Homicide Case Against Marathon Organisers: Raviraj Kale Demands Action

Pune : Youth leader and social activist Raviraj Baban Kale has demanded that a case of culpable homicide be registered against the organisers of the ‘Runs and Miles Half Marathon Part 1’ over the death of a young runner, alleging negligence and poor planning.

In a written complaint to the Pune Police Commissioner, Kale alleged that runner Sandeep Laxman Yadav died during the marathon held on May 17, 2026, due to the organisers’ failure to provide timely medical assistance.

According to Kale, Sandeep collapsed while running the 10 km category between Wadia College and Aga Khan Bridge and could have been saved if proper first aid and a cardiac ambulance had been available.

He also alleged that although the organisers had obtained permission from the traffic police, the required legal permission from the Koregaon Park Police Station was not taken.

Kale further demanded action against five police personnel deployed for security, alleging negligence in their duty.

“An innocent young life was lost due to irresponsible planning. A thorough inquiry should be conducted and strict legal action should be taken against those responsible. Otherwise, we will launch an intense protest for justice,” Kale warned.
