Minor Dispute Over Food Order Turns Violent in Pimpri; Three Arrested

Pune: A late-night altercation over a food order at a hotel in Pimpri escalated into a violent assault, leaving one person seriously injured. The Pimpri police have arrested three persons in connection with the incident.
The incident took place around 2am on Sunday at Hotel Ronak in Sai Chowk area.

Complainant Ashish Jagannath Walunj (30), a resident of Nehrunagar, Pimpri, lodged a complaint at Pimpri police station. The arrested accused have been identified as Abbas Shaikh (30), Mohammad Shaikh (21), both residents near Hotel Ronak in Sai Chowk, and Pankaj Bhumkar (30), a resident of Bauddha Nagar, Pimpri.

According to police, Walunj and his friend Manoj Pund had gone to the hotel for dinner and placed an order. However, a waiter informed them that the hotel was closed, which led to a verbal argument.

The situation quickly escalated when the accused allegedly dragged the duo outside the hotel and assaulted them. During the attack, the complainant sustained a serious head injury after being struck with a metal utensil.

The accused also allegedly issued death threats and attempted to create panic in the area. “They warned that anyone who intervened would face consequences,” the complainant stated.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Criminal Law Amendment Act. Further investigation is being carried out by sub-inspector Kamble.
