Rare Photo Exhibition Celebrates Phule-Ambedkar Legacy in Pimpri
- PCMC marks birth anniversaries with inspiring showcase of historic moments and social reform journey
Pimpri : Marking the bicentenary birth year of Krantisurya Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and the 135th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has organised a series of events under ‘Samajik Samata Saptah’ and ‘Vichar Prabodhan Parv 2026’.
A major highlight is a special exhibition of rare, historical and inspiring photographs, being held from April 11 to 15 at the Savitribai Phule Memorial in Pimpri. The exhibition features a valuable collection sourced from Dilip Wankhede, Smruti Nagarjun Museum and Ashwini Doke.
The display vividly captures the transformative journey of Mahatma Phule, showcasing glimpses of his residence, his wedding with Savitribai Phule, and the pioneering efforts in girls’ education. Rare visuals reflecting the socio-cultural landscape of that era and handwritten scripts further underline his intellectual depth.
Equally compelling are photographs depicting key moments from Dr. Ambedkar’s life, including social movements, constitutional work, political milestones and personal memories.
More than a visual archive, the exhibition serves as a powerful message of equality, education and justice. PCMC has urged citizens, especially the youth, to visit and draw inspiration from the lives of these iconic reformers.
