Pune Horror: Woman, Live-in Partner Kill 6-Year-Old Son
Pune : In a shocking incident, a 27-year-old woman and her live-in partner allegedly murdered her six-year-old son at an apartment in Kuruli village in Khed on April 4.
According to police, the duo killed the child by repeatedly banging his head against a bathroom wall and subsequently drowning him in a bucket. After the crime, they transported the boy’s body to the woman’s parental home in Beed district and claimed that he had died of a heart attack.
However, the woman’s father grew suspicious and informed her in-laws. Upon seeing injury marks on the child’s body, the in-laws alerted the police. The Parali Rural police sent the body for post-mortem, which confirmed death due to drowning.
Initially, a case of accidental death was registered, and the woman was later handed over to the South Mahalunge police for further investigation.
Police sub-inspector S.R. Jaybhaye said that during interrogation, the woman confessed to the crime and has been arrested, while a search is underway to trace her absconding partner.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman, originally from Beed district, had been estranged from her husband and was living with his friend, a cab driver, in Kuruli for the past four months along with her son.
“Over the last month, the accused’s partner frequently quarrelled with her and pressured her to send the child away. The woman stated that her son had become an obstacle in her relationship,” the officer said.
The accused has been remanded to five days of police custody, and further investigation is ongoing.
