Tamara Society Residents Flag Safety and Health Issues

  • Illegal STP, Closed Exit Gate, CCTV Failure And Parking Leakage Spark Complaints

Pimpri : Residents of Tamara Co-operative Housing Society have lodged complaints against the developer over multiple safety, health and infrastructure issues, including an allegedly illegal Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), water leakage in parking areas, non-functional CCTV cameras, dust pollution from ongoing construction, and closure of the society’s exit gate.

Residents have submitted a formal complaint to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Mayor alleging negligence, incomplete work and violation of approved building plans by the developer Goldfinger Kataria Urban Development.

Illegal STP Causing Odour and Health Issues

Residents alleged that the STP was installed next to C Wing without prior notice and not at the location shown in the approved plan. Due to the STP, foul smell, noise pollution and mosquito breeding have increased, causing health issues such as breathing problems, headaches and nausea among residents.

Water Leakage in Parking

Water leakage has been reported in parking levels P2 and P1 for several years, causing water accumulation, structural damage risk to beams and slabs, and potential electrical hazards. Residents said repair work was promised earlier but has not been completed.

Exit Gate Closed for One Year

The society’s exit gate has reportedly been closed since October 30, 2024 due to construction of new buildings, forcing residents to use a single entry road, increasing accident risk and creating difficulties for emergency services like fire brigade and ambulance.

Dust and Noise Pollution from Construction

Residents also complained that construction safety measures such as safety nets, green sheets and protective coverings have not been properly installed, leading to dust pollution. They also alleged construction work begins early morning and continues on holidays, causing noise pollution and inconvenience.

RERA Complaint Filed

Residents have also filed a complaint with MahaRERA alleging cheating, incomplete work and safety violations by the builder.

“The STP installed illegally near residential buildings is causing foul smell, noise and health problems. Residents are unable to sleep properly due to continuous operation of the STP. Despite notices from the municipal corporation, no effective action has been taken by the developer.”
– Kishor Dongre, Resident, Tamara Housing Society

“The exit gate has been closed for nearly a year and residents are forced to use a single road, creating safety risks. Parking areas are facing water leakage and structural damage risk. Residents’ health, safety and daily life are being seriously affected.”
– Vivek Mahalpure, Resident, Tamara Housing Society

“The CCTV system in our society is currently not operational. Outsiders can enter and move around the society premises at any time, which has raised serious safety concerns for women, girls, senior citizens, and children. The CCTV system stopped working after the builder shifted the security cabin for the construction work of D and E buildings. Despite several reminders, the CCTV system has not been restored yet. The society has become completely unsafe.”
– Kunal Tayade, Resident, Tamara Housing Society

Residents’ Demands

  1. Authorities should issue immediate orders to open the society’s exit gate and inspect whether the internal road meets standard width requirements.
  2. The entry gate leading to Parking -1 does not meet the standard road width norms; an inquiry should be conducted and necessary corrections should be made.
  3. The STP should be shut down immediately until a complete inspection is conducted. The STP should be relocated to the designated open space near D and E buildings as per the approved building plan, considering residents’ health and safety.
  4. Authorities should direct the developer to carry out permanent repairs for water leakage between P2 and P1 parking levels.
  5. A fire audit should be completed immediately and the certificate should be issued.
  6. All CCTV cameras and security systems should be restored and made operational immediately.
  7. The guest parking layout and signage should be completed immediately.
  8. All pending and incomplete construction work should be completed at the earliest.
