PCMC Launches Major Anti-Encroachment Drive Across City Under ‘Footpath-Free Fortnight’

Pimpri : The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has intensified its anti-encroachment campaign across the city as part of the “Footpath-Free Fortnight” drive being conducted from May 1 to 15 under the guidance of Vijay Suryawanshi and Additional Commissioner Trupti Sandbhor.

The civic body carried out large-scale action in areas including Talawade, Chikhali, Bhosari, Rahatani and Pimple Saudagar, removing illegal encroachments from roads and footpaths. Authorities seized handcarts, stalls, coolers, plastic crates, weighing machines, tables, chairs, umbrellas and other materials during the operation.

Hundreds of kilograms of vegetables and fruits confiscated from encroached roadside vendors were deposited at the ISKCON Annamrit food donation centre. Civic officials said the drive aims to ensure smooth traffic movement and provide safer, obstruction-free footpaths for pedestrians.

The operation was conducted with the support of municipal staff, police personnel and MSF jawans.
