PMC Presents ₹13,995 Crore Budget for 2026–27; Focus on Roads, Water Supply and Traffic
Pune: Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram has presented a ₹13,995 crore budget for the financial year 2026–27, with major focus on improving roads, water supply, traffic management and waste management in the city.
Speaking to reporters after presenting the budget before the standing committee, Ram said the civic body will prioritise infrastructure development and work to make the city more pollution-free and easier to live in.
The highest allocation of ₹2,077 crore has been made for the water supply department. The funds will be used to strengthen water supply systems, especially in newly merged villages and expanding areas of the city.
For road development, ₹1,866 crore has been proposed, while ₹1,390 crore has been allocated for solid waste management and ₹1,216 crore for sewage projects. The civic body also plans to improve traffic conditions by investing ₹740 crore in projects such as flyovers, road widening and traffic management systems.
To improve education facilities, ₹979 crore has been allocated to the primary education department. Around 75 municipal schools will be upgraded into model schools with better infrastructure and digital learning facilities.
The budget also includes ₹500 crore for land acquisition to complete pending road projects and reduce traffic congestion in the city.
Ram added that repairs will be carried out on the main water pipeline from Khadakwasla Dam to Parvati Water Treatment Plant to ensure smooth water supply. Efforts will also be made to strengthen waste management and increase processing of wet waste in the city.
