Dehu Resonates with Devotional Fervour on 378th Tukaram Beej

Lakhs of Warkaris gather for prayers, kirtans and flower offering at sacred Nandurki tree

Pimpri: The town of Dehu reverberated with chants of devotion on Thursday as thousands of devotees gathered to celebrate the 378th Beej ceremony of Sant Tukaram in a deeply spiritual atmosphere.

The day marks the ‘Sadeha Vaikunthagaman’ (ascension to Vaikuntha) of Sant Tukaram and is observed every year as Tukaram Beej. Lakhs of Warkaris from across Maharashtra arrived in Dehu to participate in the sacred event.

Devotional activities began in the early hours with the Kakda Aarti at 3 am at the main temple complex. This was followed by rituals including the worship of Vitthal and Rukmini, as well as prayers at the shrine associated with Sant Tukaram’s Vaikuntha ascension site.

Throughout the night, bhajani dindis kept devotees engaged in spiritual singing accompanied by traditional instruments such as veena, cymbals, mridang and chiplya. The entire Dehu town echoed with the chanting of Harinaam.

At noon, devotees offered flowers to the sacred Nandurki Tree and prayed with folded hands along the banks of the Indrayani River, creating a vibrant atmosphere of devotion.

The rituals were performed by the temple trust led by president Jalindar Maharaj More along with trustees including Laxman Maharaj More, Umesh Maharaj More, Vaibhav Maharaj More, Dilip Maharaj More, Ganesh Maharaj More and Vikramsinh Maharaj More.
