PCMC Cracks Down on Environmental Violators, Filled Against Six Vehicle Owners
Pimpri : In a blatant violation of environmental norms, six vehicle owners and drivers were caught illegally dumping commercial and industrial waste in public areas near 90-Meter Road, Moshi, despite ongoing awareness campaigns by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on solid waste management, water pollution, and air pollution. The PCMC has filed a case against the accused to curb the growing threat to public health and the environment.
The dumping occurred between August 6 and September 20, with the vehicles involved bearing registration numbers MH 14/JL 2850, MH 14/HY 9033, MH 14/KA 2225, MH 43/E 4843, MH 14/DM 3433, and MH 14/CP 3377. The offenders were found disposing of domestic, industrial, and hazardous waste without any treatment, posing a serious risk of water, soil, and environmental pollution as well as the spread of infectious diseases.
Yogesh Sopan Alhat, Deputy Engineer of PCMC, lodged the complaint at MIDC Bhosari Police Station. A case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code sections 272, 280, 292, as well as the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act and the Environment Protection Act. Police Sub-Inspector Balaji Jonapalle is leading the investigation to ensure strict action against the violators.
This crackdown sends a strong message that the PCMC will not tolerate negligence towards environmental laws and public health hazards.
