PCMC Opposition Leader Demands Independent Probe into Bribery, Beat Marshal Complaints
Bhausaheb Bhoir seeks high-level scrutiny of Ombase’s files, tenders and approved works; warns of agitation if strict action is not taken
Pimpri-Chinchwad : Opposition Leader Bhausaheb Bhoir has demanded an independent and comprehensive investigation into the alleged bribery case involving a senior Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) engineer and complaints of irregularities concerning Beat Marshals. He submitted a memorandum to the Municipal Commissioner, seeking strict action against officials and employees found guilty.
In his memorandum, Bhoir referred to the October 29 incident in which the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) reportedly caught PCMC Chief Engineer Pramod Ombase red-handed in connection with an alleged bribery case. He stated that the incident had raised serious questions about transparency and accountability within the municipal administration and had also affected the city’s image.
Demand for High-Level Investigation into Ombase’s Tenure
Bhoir has called for a separate, high-level investigation into suspicious files, tender processes and approved development works handled during Pramod Ombase’s tenure. He has demanded that the municipal administration independently examine the relevant records to establish whether any irregularities or violations occurred and make the findings public.
Beat Marshal Complaints Also Under Scrutiny
The Opposition Leader has also raised concerns over repeated complaints of alleged irregularities, misconduct and corruption involving Beat Marshals. He has demanded an impartial inquiry into these complaints so that the actual facts can be established and presented before the public.
Warning of Agitation if Action Is Delayed
Bhoir has further demanded strict legal and administrative action, including suspension, against officers and employees found responsible in either of the two matters. Emphasising the need to curb corruption within the civic administration, he urged the Municipal Commissioner to initiate immediate corrective measures. He warned that if the administration failed to take appropriate action, he would launch an intensified agitation in the public interest. The demands have brought renewed attention to the need for transparency, accountability and effective oversight of administrative procedures within PCMC.
