PCMC Launches Diwali RRR Collection Drive Across Housing Societies
Residents urged to donate reusable clothes, books, toys, utensils and household items on October 31 and November 1
Pimpri-Chinchwad : The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), in association with SWaCH, will organise a two-day RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Collection Drive across various housing societies on October 31 and November 1, from 10 am to 2 pm.
The initiative aims to collect unused but usable household items during Diwali cleaning and distribute them to needy people instead of allowing them to go to waste. Residents can donate clothes, books, educational materials, toys, utensils, bedsheets, curtains, furniture and usable electronic items.
On October 31, collection centres will operate in societies across Ahernagar, Rahatani, Wakad, Tathawade, Pimple Saudagar and Ravet. On November 1, the drive will cover Moshi, Chikhali, Akurdi, Chinchwad, Punawale, Tathawade, Rahatani, Pimpri and Vallabhnagar.
PCMC Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi appealed to citizens to participate actively, stating that reuse of household resources would help reduce waste and environmental pressure. Deputy Commissioner Dr Pradeep Thengal also urged residents to contribute reusable items.
For assistance, residents can contact 7030901993 or 9168684670. The civic body has appealed to citizens to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali by sharing useful belongings with those in need.
