Thergaon to Get a New Water Sports Tourism Hub Under ‘Vangandh’ Project
- Kejudevi Garden & Kejubai Bund Set for Major Revamp with Boating, Water Sports, Nature Trails, Eco-Park and Riverside Recreational Facilities
Pimpri : The ambitious ‘Vangandh’ project is set to add a new attraction to Pimpri-Chinchwad’s urban landscape, with the development of Kejudevi Garden and Kejubai Bund at Thergaon approved by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee.
As part of the project, the existing proposal for renovation of the boating club and Kejudevi Garden will be revised to include the development of a water sports tourism centre, creating a new recreational destination for residents.
Standing Committee Chairman Abhishek Barne recently inspected the proposed site and reviewed the development plan, while directing the concerned departments to take necessary steps to expedite the project.
The project aims to create a public space that connects citizens with nature, the river and community life. The development will combine recreation, environmental conservation and cultural activities, with facilities including a grand entrance, arrival area and parking.
Major Attractions Planned
The project will feature an amphitheatre, community seating areas, photo booths, viewing decks, boating jetty, ferry boats and various water sports.
Other planned facilities include:
- Jogging track and walking areas
- Children’s play area
- Nature trails and eco-park
- Flower garden
- Watchtower
- Temple precinct
- Scenic river ghats
- Space for cultural activities
The development is envisioned as more than just a conventional garden, with the riverfront, greenery and public amenities brought together to create a vibrant urban recreational centre. The civic administration is expected to initiate the work at the earliest, with the project likely to emerge as a new leisure and tourism destination in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
