HCMTR, Inner Ring Road Projects Gain Momentum as Pune Speeds Up Land Acquisition
Pune : Work related to land acquisition for two major road infrastructure projects — the High-Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR) and the Inner Ring Road — is set to gain momentum as the Pune administration steps up efforts to expedite the process.
A high-level meeting was recently held at the District Collector’s Office in the presence of District Collector Jitendra Dudi and Pune Municipal Commissioner Nawal Kishore Ram to review the progress of both projects. Additional Commissioners Pavneet Kaur and Omprakash Divte, along with officials from the land acquisition departments of the district administration and Pune Municipal Corporation, senior engineers and representatives of various agencies attended the meeting.
The meeting focused on reviewing the current status of the two projects and accelerating land acquisition and transfer procedures required for their implementation. The Collector and Municipal Commissioner directed the Revenue Department, Land Records Department, Forest Department and PMC administration to work in close coordination and ensure that pending procedures are completed without delay.
For the HCMTR project, proposals for acquisition of 29.75 hectares of private land across 13 villages have already been submitted to the District Collector’s Office. In addition, the administration has been directed to expedite the transfer process for the remaining 29.98 hectares of government, forest and defence land and submit the necessary proposals to the state government by September 11.
The HCMTR and Inner Ring Road projects are considered crucial for addressing Pune’s growing traffic congestion and strengthening the city’s long-term transportation network. The latest administrative push is expected to accelerate the land acquisition process, which remains a key step before the projects can move ahead on the ground.
