Senior Citizens’ Recreation Centre and Library Inaugurated in Chinchwad

Chinchwad : A senior citizens’ recreation centre and library established at Ruston Colony and SKF Colony in Chinchwadgaon were inaugurated on Wednesday evening (September 2) in memory of Late Mangaltai Ramakant Saundankar and to mark the birthday of corporator Anant Korhale.

The recreation centre has been developed to provide senior citizens with a dedicated space to meet, interact and spend their leisure time. A library has also been established to promote reading habits and provide reading facilities to senior citizens as well as other residents of the area. The facilities were developed using the corporator’s fund, bringing cheer among senior citizens in the two colonies.

Shiv Sena district organiser and head of Ramamangal Social Foundation Santosh Saundankar said the foundation regularly undertakes public-oriented initiatives in memory of Late Mangaltai Ramakant Saundankar.

“We wanted to provide senior citizens with a dedicated platform where they can interact, spend quality time and enjoy their leisure. The recreation centre and library have been established with this objective. Corporator Anant Korhale extended his support in turning this concept into reality. Ramamangal Social Foundation will continue to undertake various social initiatives in the future as well,” Saundankar said.

Corporator Anant Korhale said senior citizens are an important repository of the experience and values of society.

“Providing senior citizens with facilities where they can come together and spend their time in a positive manner is our responsibility as public representatives. Keeping in mind the needs of residents of Ruston Colony and SKF Colony, the senior citizens’ recreation centre and library have been developed through the corporator’s fund. All residents should make maximum use of these facilities,” Korhale said.

Local residents, senior citizens, social workers and other dignitaries were present at the inauguration. Residents welcomed the initiative and expressed satisfaction over the creation of dedicated facilities for senior citizens.
