Prohibitory Orders Imposed Across Pimpri-Chinchwad Ahead of Ganeshotsav
- Restrictions under Maharashtra Police Act to remain in force from September 2 to September 15
Pimpri : In view of the upcoming Ganeshotsav and various religious programmes, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has imposed prohibitory orders across its jurisdiction to maintain law and order.
The order was issued on August 31, 2026, by Police Joint Commissioner Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar under Section 37(1)(3) of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951.
The order will remain in force for 14 days, from 12.01 am on September 2, 2026, until midnight on September 15, 2026.
Under the order, carrying or possessing inflammable or explosive substances, sticks, weapons, knives, sickles, swords, firearms or any other objects that could cause physical injury in public places has been prohibited.
The display or burning of symbolic effigies, pictures or images of individuals or political leaders has also been prohibited.
Restrictions on Speeches, Slogans and Gatherings
The order further prohibits raising loud and derogatory slogans or engaging in activities involving musical instruments that may threaten public decency or morality.
Speeches or actions that may pose a threat to the security of the State, incite the overthrow of the State, or involve the creation and public distribution of objectionable material have also been prohibited.
Additionally, gatherings of five or more persons and organising any meeting or procession without prior permission from the Police Commissioner have been prohibited.
However, persons gathering in the course of performing their official duties in government service have been exempted from the order.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has warned that anyone violating the prohibitory order will face action under Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
