PCMC Targets Unauthorised Constructions at Property Registration Stage
PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD : In a bid to curb the growing problem of unauthorised constructions, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has decided to take preventive action at the property registration stage itself.
The civic administration will provide the Stamp and Registration Department with details of unauthorised constructions located in Red Zone and buffer areas, green belts, river blue and red flood lines, reserved plots and other restricted areas, along with their respective survey numbers.
The move is aimed at preventing the registration of sale and purchase transactions involving flats and commercial units in such properties. The PCMC is coordinating with the concerned department to ensure that transactions involving properties identified as unauthorised do not proceed through the registration process.
The civic administration has also appealed to citizens to exercise caution while purchasing property and avoid entering into transactions involving unauthorised constructions or properties located in restricted zones.
The decision comes against the backdrop of repeated instances of unauthorised constructions coming up even after enforcement and demolition action by the civic body. The PCMC now plans to address the issue at the transaction level by restricting registration of such properties.
According to the civic administration, the measure will not only help curb the spread of unauthorised constructions but also protect citizens from potential financial losses arising from the purchase of illegal properties.
