PCMC Records ₹610 Crore Property Tax Collection in First Half

– 5.09 lakh property owners pay tax; 66.47% of registered properties covered

Pimpri : The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has recorded its highest-ever property tax collection in the first half of a financial year, collecting ₹610.44 crore during April-September 2026.

Of the 7.66 lakh registered properties in the city, 5,09,200 property owners, or 66.47 per cent, have paid their property tax during the first six months of the 2026-27 financial year.

The civic administration attributed the increase to various tax concessions, awareness campaigns, notices to defaulters, seizure drives and doorstep distribution of bills through women’s self-help groups. Awareness campaigns through autorickshaws and SMS messages informing property owners about their tax dues and applicable rebates were also carried out.

By the end of September last year, 4,78,268 property owners had paid ₹603.82 crore in property tax. This year, the collection has increased by ₹6.62 crore, according to Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar.

Online Payment Gains Popularity

Online payment continues to be the preferred mode of paying property tax among citizens. Of the taxpayers who made payments during the first half of the year, around 4.45 lakh property owners paid ₹471.83 crore through the online facility.

The PCMC has been encouraging citizens to use its online payment system, enabling them to pay their property tax without visiting civic offices.

Wakad Leads in Property Tax Collection

Among PCMC’s 18 property tax collection offices, Wakad recorded the highest collection at ₹84.91 crore.

It was followed by Thergaon at ₹53.15 crore, Kaspate Vasti at ₹45.19 crore, Pimpri Nagar at ₹44.99 crore, Kiwale at ₹44.91 crore and Chikhali at ₹44.61 crore. Talawade recorded the lowest collection among the zones at ₹11.99 crore.

Four-Year Collection Trend

  • 2023-24 : ₹590.60 crore
  • 2024-25 : ₹512.62 crore
  • 2025-26 : ₹603.82 crore
  • 2026-27 : ₹610.44 crore

Residential Properties Account for Majority of Taxpayers

Residential properties accounted for the largest share of tax-paying properties, with 4,51,739 residential property owners making payments. The figures for other categories were:

  • Non-residential : 40,197
  • Mixed-use : 10,044
  • Industrial : 3,667
  • Open land : 3,489

property tax remains an important source of revenue for the civic body and thanked citizens for contributing to the city’s development by paying their dues. He said the civic administration would now focus on recovering outstanding property tax from defaulters.
