Ravet–Narhe Elevated Corridor to Take Off Soon : Shankar Jagtap

• Union Minister Nitin Gadkari approves DPR; MLA Shankar Jagtap’s persistent follow-up pays off

Pimpri : In a major boost to transport infrastructure in Pimpri-Chinchwad, the long-awaited Ravet–Narhe Elevated Corridor has moved a step closer to execution. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 32-km corridor, estimated to cost around ₹6,000 crore, has received approval from Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, paving the way for construction to begin soon.

The development was announced during the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Pune–Shirur Elevated Expressway, Talegaon–Chakan–Shikrapur Elevated Highway, and Hadapsar–Yavat Elevated Highway, held in Pune on Friday in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Sharing the update, Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap said the approval is the result of his continuous follow-up with both the State and Central governments to address the growing traffic congestion in Pimpri-Chinchwad and the Hinjawadi IT hub.

Jagtap recalled that he had strongly raised the demand for the Ravet–Narhe Elevated Corridor during the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly’s winter session on March 23, 2026, highlighting the increasing traffic on the Pune–Bengaluru National Highway, rapid urban expansion, and the heavy daily movement of vehicles towards Hinjawadi IT Park.

“The proposal has now received the much-awaited approval, and work on the corridor is expected to begin soon. This project will significantly strengthen the city’s transport infrastructure and provide major relief to commuters,” Jagtap said.

The elevated corridor is expected to ease congestion across Wakad, Tathawade, Punawale, Ravet, Kiwale, Balewadi, Baner, Sus, and Bavdhan, while also improving connectivity for residents of Maan, Marunji, Nere, Jambe, and Kasarsai. It is expected to reduce travel time to Hinjawadi IT Park, improve traffic flow on the Mumbai–Bengaluru Highway, and make commuting safer and more efficient.

Jagtap said the ambitious project is being implemented through the coordinated efforts of the State and Central governments, and construction will commence after the completion of the remaining administrative formalities.

These efforts have now borne fruit. The Ravet–Narhe Elevated Corridor will become a vital part of the region’s future transport network and provide long-term relief to commuters.”
