Seven Trapped in New Sangvi Lift Rescued After Three-Hour Operation

Pimpri : Seven persons trapped inside a lift in a residential building at New Sangvi were rescued safely by the Rahatani Fire Brigade after a nearly three-hour-long rescue operation in the early hours of Friday (May 8).

The incident took place at Asha Shankar Plaza building around 2 am when all seven residents entered the lift from the third floor. Although the lift had a capacity of only five persons, seven people boarded it, causing excessive load on the system.

Due to the overload, the lift suddenly malfunctioned and got stuck between the ground floor and the first floor. Residents of the building initially tried to rescue the trapped persons, but their efforts failed. Around 2:30 am, the Rahatani Fire Brigade was informed about the incident.

A rescue team immediately rushed to the spot. Firefighters first attempted to bring the lift down using the control system installed on the terrace, but were unsuccessful. The society management also contacted lift maintenance staff, however, they too could not open the door.

Finally, fire brigade personnel cut the outer iron grill and carried out technical adjustments to the lift door mechanism before opening the door and rescuing all seven persons safely around 5:30 am.

The trapped residents heaved a sigh of relief after the operation was completed successfully. Firemen Pruthviraj Pawar, Prathamesh Shitole, Pratik Jambhule, Sachin Palve, Abhijit Yadav and driver Satish Sawale participated in the rescue operation.
