AAP Demands Military-Style Security for PCMC Schools

Pimpri : In the wake of shocking incidents reported in schools in Badlapur and Pune district, concerns over the safety of students, especially girls, in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) schools have intensified. AAP Youth Wing Maharashtra President Raviraj Baban Kale has demanded that the civic administration immediately terminate private security contracts in municipal schools and appoint ex-servicemen through the government-backed MESCO agency instead.

In a memorandum submitted to PCMC Commissioner Vijay Suryavanshi, Kale stated that thousands of children from ordinary families study in municipal schools, making student safety a top priority. He alleged that several security guards appointed through private contractors are untrained and lack discipline. Parents have reportedly raised serious complaints about guards being intoxicated while on duty and allowing anti-social elements to loiter near school premises.

Kale said such an atmosphere poses a serious threat to students’ safety and called for immediate corrective measures.

Why Ex-Servicemen?

According to the memorandum, appointing former military personnel would ensure:

  • A disciplined and secure environment for students, particularly girls
  • Better handling of emergencies due to professional training
  • Stronger control over anti-social activities and substance abuse near schools
  • Increased confidence among parents regarding their children’s safety

Key Demands

  • Priority appointment of MESCO ex-servicemen in girls’ and primary schools
  • Immediate cancellation of contracts of security agencies facing complaints

“Any compromise on the safety of children and girl students will not be tolerated. The administration must take urgent action on this proposal and issue necessary orders,” Kale stated in the letter.

He also expressed confidence that the move would improve both the safety standards and overall quality of municipal schools.
