BJP Directly Involved in Rs. 52 Crore PCMC Scam, Claims Opposition
- Leaders allege forged signatures, demand probe and strict criminal action
Pimpri : A controversy over alleged financial irregularities of Rs 52 crore in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) budget has taken a political turn, with opposition corporators from Shiv Sena and NCP demanding a detailed probe and alleging direct involvement of BJP leaders.
At a press conference, Shiv Sena leader Sulabha Ubale, along with opposition leader Bhausaheb Bhoir, corporators Sandeep Waghere and Nilesh Barne, levelled serious allegations regarding last-minute changes in budgetary provisions through supplementary notes dated March 30 and 31.
Ubale claimed that large-scale payments were cleared based on these amendments, many of which allegedly carried signatures of BJP corporators. “In several cases, corporators have signed proposals unrelated to their wards, raising questions about possible pressure or other motives. Some have even denied their signatures, pointing to the possibility of forgery,” she said, demanding a thorough investigation and criminal action if wrongdoing is established.
Waghere alleged that the irregularities were aimed at benefiting a contractor close to a BJP MLA and called for a probe by a retired judge. He also sought strict legal action against those found guilty.
The opposition has urged the civic administration to constitute an independent inquiry committee to examine the matter. The allegations have cast a shadow over the functioning of the civic body, and the issue is expected to escalate further in the coming days.
