Pimpri : Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi has assured that a meeting will soon be to resume the implementation of the Street Vendors Act in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The civic body has already completed a survey of hawkers across the city. However, the process had been stalled in recent days due to the model code of conduct and other administrative reasons. The Commissioner stated that the work will now be restarted through a structured meeting.
A delegation from the National Hawker Federation, Maharashtra Hawker Kranti Mahasangh and the Street Vendors Committee met the Commissioner and submitted a memorandum, discussing various issues faced by hawkers.
Key demands raised included:
- Issuance of certificates to registered vendors who have paid fees across all ward offices
- Implementation of designated hawker zones
- Cancellation of bogus entries identified in the survey
- Provision of basic facilities in hawker zones
- Suspension of eviction drives
The Commissioner acknowledged the importance of organizing hawker zones and assured that a बैठक will be held soon to take a positive view on the demands.
Further action is expected in the coming weeks as the civic body moves to streamline street vending regulations in the city.
