‘Antarnaad’ Brings Marathi Folk Culture Alive in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Marathi Language Week opens with music, folk arts and cultural performances

PIMPRI : Marathi folk culture and traditions came alive through ‘Antarnaad – A Journey to the Soul’, presented at Prof. Ramkrishna More Auditorium in Chinchwad as part of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Classical Marathi Language Day and Week celebrations.

The musical-theatrical presentation travelled through Maharashtra’s rich cultural traditions, featuring saint poetry, palkhi celebrations, powada, gavalan, gondhal, lavani, bharud, pingla, ringan and folk music.

The event was organised by Morya Theatres on the opening day of the Marathi Language Week, being observed from October 3 to 9 under the guidance of PCMC Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi and Additional Commissioner Vikrant Bagade.

The celebrations also began with performances of traditional instruments including tasha, sambal and halgi. A band performance of ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha’ added to the festive atmosphere, with young participants joining the celebrations.

The programme at Ramkrishna More Auditorium received a houseful response, with audiences applauding the artists and participating enthusiastically in the celebration of Marathi language and culture.

Sunday’s line-up

On October 4, the venue will host Bhirbhir at 9 am, In the Name Of at 10 am, Sankarshan Karhade’s Niyam Va Ati Lagu at 12.30 pm, Dharitrichya Leki at 5 pm and The Folk Maharashtra – Olakh Majhya Maharashtrachi at 9.30 pm.
