Dr Abhijit Chaudhari Takes Charge as PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner

Pimpri : Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has got a new Metropolitan Commissioner as Abhijit Chaudhari officially took charge of the post on Monday (March 9). He assumed office from outgoing commissioner Yogesh Mhase.

After taking charge, Dr Chaudhari said priority will be given to speeding up key infrastructure projects in the Pune metropolitan region. He said major projects such as the Pune Ring Road, Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar Metro, and town planning schemes will be implemented effectively.

He also said PMRDA will work to address the challenges of rapid urbanisation in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and surrounding rural areas. Efforts will be made to improve infrastructure, ease traffic congestion in IT and industrial areas and implement the river improvement project.

Dr Chaudhari assured that issues related to land acquisition and compensation for farmers will be resolved through coordination with stakeholders.

Senior officials including Additional Metropolitan Commissioner Deepak Singla and Joint Commissioner (Administration) Rupali Awale-Dambe were present on the occasion.

With nearly 15 years of administrative experience, officials and citizens expect that Dr Chaudhari’s leadership will help accelerate several pending development projects and support the creation of a modern and well-planned metropolitan region in the Pune area.
