Civic Body Demolishes Large-Scale Illegal Constructions in Lohgaon, Viman Nagar and Wagholi

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation carried out a major demolition drive against illegal constructions in the eastern parts of the city on Wednesday. Action was taken in areas including Lohgaon, Viman Nagar and Wagholi, where several unauthorized buildings and tin-shed structures were demolished.

The operation began around 9 am and targeted nearly 78,000 sq ft of illegal construction in Lohgaon and about 80,000 sq ft in the Viman Nagar–Wagholi area.

The drive was conducted under the orders of the municipal commissioner and led by Deputy Commissioner Somnath Bankar and Chief Security Officer Dr Ramesh Shelar.

Civic officials had earlier issued notices to 18 illegal constructions in Lohgaon. Following the notices, demolition teams used JCB machines to bring down RCC structures and tin-shed buildings, including completed structures, as part of the anti-encroachment action.
