Urgent Traffic Measures Sought in Wakad-Hinjewadi Belt
- Wakad, Hinjewadi, Tathawade and Punawale face growing congestion
Pimpri-Chinchwad: BJP corporator Shruti Wakadkar has submitted a memorandum to the Police Commissioner seeking urgent measures to tackle the increasing traffic congestion in Wakad, Hinjewadi, Tathawade and Punawale.
The areas are witnessing heavy traffic due to the growing population, increasing vehicle numbers, thousands of employees travelling to Hinjewadi IT Park, highway traffic and ongoing road development works. Congestion during peak hours is causing significant loss of time and fuel and is also affecting ambulances, school buses and other emergency vehicles.
Wakadkar has demanded the deployment of 30 to 50 additional traffic police personnel and adequate traffic wardens at major junctions, service roads, school zones and IT Park areas.
She said additional manpower would help regulate traffic during peak hours and improve management of alternative routes.
BJP Pimpri-Chinchwad city vice-president Rambhau Wakadkar, corporators Reshma Bhujbal and Chetan Bhujbal were also present.
Wakadkar said she would continue pursuing the issue with the concerned departments to find a permanent solution to the daily traffic problems faced by residents.
