Two Arrested Within 24 Hours in Autorickshaw Robbery

Pimpri-Chinchwad : The South Mahalunge MIDC police arrested two men and detained a juvenile within 24 hours in connection with the alleged robbery of an autorickshaw passenger in Nighoje, Khed taluka.

According to police, the incident occurred around 10 pm on September 28 on the Nighoje-Talawade Bridge Road near MARJE Techne Plast Company. The 21-year-old complainant, Ajay Chintaman Deslepatil, was travelling in an autorickshaw when the driver and two accomplices allegedly threatened him with a sickle and robbed him of ₹11,470.

A case was registered at South Mahalunge MIDC Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act.

Police said the investigation team analysed CCTV footage and used technical inputs to trace the autorickshaw and identify the suspects. Aman alias Shahbaz Sameer Sheikh, 26, and Shekhar Bapu Mane, 21, were subsequently arrested. A juvenile was also detained and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.

Police said Sheikh was released on bail about 15 days ago in an organised crime case registered at Nigdi Police Station and has several previous cases registered against him. Mane also has previous cases, including robbery and assault, police said.

Further investigation is underway.
