128-Metre Saffron Flag to Be Hoisted at Grand Ceremony in Moshi
- Over 5,000 drums, 151+ Dhol-Tasha troupes and grand conch recital planned on October 4
PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD : A grand ceremony to hoist a 128-metre-high saffron religious flag will be held at the upcoming Statue of Hindubhushan site in Moshi on Sunday, October 4.
Organised by the Hindubhushan Smarak Trust in association with the Dhol-Tasha Mahasangh, Maharashtra, the ceremony will begin at 2 pm at the International Exhibition Centre premises of the Hindubhushan Smarak Trust in Moshi-Borhadewadi.
The event will feature the participation of more than 5,000 drummers and over 151 Dhol-Tasha troupes from different parts of Maharashtra. A grand conch recital will also be held as a tribute to Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
Four large trailers carrying material required for the programme have already reached the Statue of Hindubhushan premises. Preparations for hoisting the 128-metre saffron flag are now in the final stage.
A special attraction of the ceremony will be the participation of the Keshav Shankhnaad Pathak, described by the organisers as a world-record-holding conch-blowers’ troupe. The combination of thousands of drums, Dhol-Tasha performances and the mass conch recital is expected to create a distinctive atmosphere during the ceremony.
The concept for the event has been developed by Mahesh Kisanrao Landge, president of the Hindubhushan Smarak Trust, Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The organisers said the flag-hoisting ceremony, participation of more than 151 Dhol-Tasha troupes and the special conch recital will make the October 4 programme a major cultural event in Moshi.
‘Special moment for residents’
Sanjeevan Sangle, president of the Chikhali-Moshi-Charholi Pimpri-Chinchwad Housing Society Federation, said the ceremony would be a special moment for residents of the area. The organisers have appealed to citizens to attend the ceremony in large numbers on Sunday, October 4, at 2 pm.
“The hoisting of a 128-metre saffron flag in Moshi, accompanied by thousands of Dhol-Tasha performers, will certainly be a special moment for local residents. The Statue of Hindubhushan is expected to further expand the identity of Moshi and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The participation of more than 5,000 drummers, over 151 Dhol-Tasha troupes and the Keshav Shankhnaad Pathak is a major attraction of the programme. Citizens and housing society residents from across Pimpri-Chinchwad should participate in large numbers and witness this grand event.”
