Abhishek Barne Inspects Kalewadi Waste Centre
- Emphasises scientific waste processing and improved cleanliness at the Kalewadi facility
Pimpri : Standing Committee Chairman of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Abhishek Barne, on Thursday inspected the municipal waste collection centre near M.M. College in Kalewadi and directed officials to strengthen the city’s solid waste management system by planning for future population growth.
During the visit, Barne reviewed the functioning of the facility and took stock of the entire waste management process, from the collection of wet and dry waste across the city to segregation and scientific processing at the centre. He also assessed the methods adopted for the safe disposal of municipal waste.
Emphasising the need for cleanliness in and around the facility, Barne instructed officials to ensure proper sanitation and regular maintenance of the waste collection centre and its surrounding areas.
Highlighting the rapid urban expansion of Pimpri-Chinchwad, Barne said the city’s growing population would inevitably lead to a significant increase in waste generation. He directed the civic administration to adopt long-term and efficient planning to strengthen the solid waste management system and ensure that waste processing infrastructure remains capable of meeting future demands.
He also stressed the importance of making the waste processing mechanism more efficient and responsive to support the city’s sustainable development goals.
Barne expressed confidence that the inspection would help accelerate the functioning of the PCMC’s Solid Waste Management Department and contribute to maintaining a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally sustainable atmosphere for residents of Kalewadi, Thergaon, and surrounding areas.
