Prahar Stages Protest at PCMC Over Action Against Disabled Vendors
– Organisation alleges discrimination, seeks proper rehabilitation of stall owners
Pimpri : Members of the Prahar Divyang Kranti Sanghatana staged a sit-in protest at the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) headquarters on Thursday, opposing the civic administration’s action against stalls operated by persons with disabilities.
The organisation alleged that the PCMC encroachment department had taken action selectively against stalls run by disabled persons, despite the stalls being located at a safe distance from the road.
According to the protesters, the stalls were set up to provide livelihood opportunities for disabled citizens. The sudden action has deprived stall owners of their source of income and pushed them into financial difficulties.
The organisation has demanded that the municipal corporation rehabilitate the affected disabled stall owners at suitable locations and ensure that their livelihood is not disrupted.
