PCMC Commissioner Reviews City Development, Encroachment Control and Drain Cleaning Works

Pimpri : Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi has directed civic officials to take strict action against new illegal constructions and encroachments in the city. He instructed authorities not to allow any unauthorized structures that could disrupt planned urban development.

Chairing a review meeting with all department heads at the PCMC headquarters, Dr. Suryawanshi also stressed that spaces cleared through anti-encroachment drives should be protected from fresh encroachments and developed into playgrounds and green zones through tree plantation.

The meeting focused on ongoing development works, monsoon preparedness, civic coordination and basic citizen-related issues. Senior civic officials and regional officers from all ward offices participated in the review.

The Commissioner directed regional officers to conduct regular inspections and take immediate action against any newly emerging illegal construction without delay. He warned that failure to control unauthorized development in time could create major urban challenges in the future.

Special emphasis was also placed on completing drain-cleaning works before the monsoon to avoid flooding in vulnerable areas. Officials were instructed to ensure quality work, respond promptly to citizen complaints and remove encroachments obstructing natural water flow in drains.

The meeting also reviewed measures to prevent water theft, resolve water supply issues, manage labour gathering points, strengthen flood preparedness, maintain gardens, preserve trees on road dividers and speed up road widening projects. Officials were instructed to improve coordination and accountability in all civic works.
