NCP Corporators Stage Bullock Cart Protest at PCMC Against BJP Fuel Campaign
Pimpri : In a symbolic protest against the fuel-saving campaign launched by the ruling BJP at the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), three corporators from the opposition Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) arrived at the civic headquarters in a bullock cart on Thursday, drawing huge attention in the municipal premises.
NCP corporators Raju Vishwanath Bansode, Pratiksha Rajendra Landge-Jawalkar and Swati (Mai) Chandrakant Kate criticised the BJP-led administration, alleging that the fuel-saving drive was merely a publicity stunt while crores of rupees were being wasted in the municipal corporation.
“The administration and ruling leaders should first control their own expenditure before imposing restrictions and rules on common citizens in the name of fuel conservation,” the protesting corporators said during the agitation.
As the bullock cart reached the PCMC headquarters, a large number of citizens, employees and onlookers gathered at the spot. Slogans were raised during the protest, creating a charged atmosphere in the area.
The corporators stated that the agitation was a symbolic protest against rising fuel prices, traffic-related issues and the policies of the civic administration. The unique demonstration remained the centre of discussion in the municipal premises for quite some time.
