PMRDA’s Structural Plan Questioned; MPC Vacancies Raised

Pune : Vasant Bhase, a member of the Metropolitan Planning Committee Pune, has questioned the insistence on a structural plan by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, calling it unnecessary when corrections to the earlier draft development plan could be made at lower cost and time.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Bhase also demanded that 23 vacant posts in the MPC be filled immediately and that all development planning be carried out within the committee’s constitutional mandate.

He alleged that despite directions from chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to scrap the earlier draft plan, the administration was pushing ahead with a structural plan, raising concerns over transparency and legality.

Bhase further claimed that the proposed plan lacks clarity on compensation for farmers whose land may be acquired for infrastructure, warning of large-scale displacement.

He has also filed a petition in the Bombay high court, questioning the planning process and seeking adherence to constitutional provisions.
