BJP Rift Deepens Over Nominated Corporator Picks

  • Tensions Rise Within Bharatiya Janata Party Over Nominated Corporator Appointments in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pimpri : Internal friction within the Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified over the appointment of nominated corporators in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, with visible disagreements emerging over the inclusion of Sachin Sudam Kalbhor.

Sources indicate that the names of seven nominated corporators are likely to be announced on Monday (April 20), drawing significant attention from party workers and local leaders. The controversy has primarily centered around Kalbhor’s candidature, which has reportedly faced opposition from within the party ranks.

Mayor Ravi Landge and Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar have formally recommended Kalbhor’s name through a written communication to state BJP president Ravindra Chavan. However, parallel discussions suggest resistance from other influential quarters within the party.

Speculation is rife that Mahesh Landge has conveyed his opposition through a letter addressed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state party leadership. Kalbhor has alleged that such correspondence was aimed at blocking his appointment.

With the announcement imminent, the developments have triggered a larger debate within the party, whether priority will be given to long-standing loyalists or to new entrants who have recently joined the BJP. The episode has brought internal political dynamics within the party into the open, underscoring growing factionalism at the local level.
