Congress Launches Grassroots Revamp Drive in PCMC
- ‘Sangathan Srujan Abhiyan’ aims to rebuild party from booth to national level
Pimpri : The Congress has initiated an organisational overhaul in Pimpri-Chinchwad as part of its nationwide ‘Sangathan Srujan Abhiyan’, with party observer and MLA Vinod Sultanpuri holding interactions with aspiring office-bearers across levels.
Addressing a press conference, Sultanpuri said feedback from workers at booth, block and city levels will be compiled into a report for the Indian National Congress leadership. He admitted that the party’s organisational strength in the city remains weak and said efforts are underway to rebuild it from the grassroots.
AICC secretary Prithviraj Sathe said the drive is being carried out under the guidance of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, with 2026 declared as the “year of organisation building”.
Observers said the first phase will focus on appointing new block and district presidents, while ensuring social balance in key wings, including youth, women and minority cells. Over 35 aspirants have expressed interest in the city president’s post, party leaders said.
The initiative aims to decentralise decision-making and strengthen the party’s base at the booth level ahead of upcoming political challenges.
