MSIHMCT Pune Organises QIP Seminar on Cyber Security & Cyber Hygiene
Pune : Maharashtra State Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology and Research Society, in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University under the Quality Improvement Programme (QIP), successfully organised a seminar on “Cyber Security & Cyber Hygiene” to promote safe digital practices and awareness about cybercrime.
The seminar was conducted under the guidance of Dr. V. M. Mohitkar, Director of Technical Education, Maharashtra State and Chairman of the Governing Body of MSIHMCT. The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in the presence of dignitaries including Dr. D. V. Jadhav, Joint Director of Technical Education (Regional Office, Pune) and Dr. Seema Zagade, Principal of MSIHMCT.
The seminar featured expert sessions on cybersecurity, digital safety, and responsible social media use. The first session on Cyber Security and Cyber Hygiene was delivered by Nitin Sawarkar, Technology Fellow in Software Security at PTC Pune, who explained cyber threats, data protection, and the importance of strong passwords and cyber hygiene practices.
The second session on Digital Security was conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Alka Jadhav, who explained online fraud, phishing attacks, digital scams, and the legal process for reporting cybercrime cases.
The final session on Responsible and Secured Use of Social Media was conducted by cybersecurity consultant Abhijit Limaye, who spoke about digital responsibility, privacy protection, and safe use of social media platforms.
Each session was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session where participants discussed cybersecurity challenges and solutions with the experts.
The organisers thanked the teaching and non-teaching staff for their support in successfully conducting the seminar. The programme was coordinated by Sachin Rayarikar along with the faculty and staff team.
