PCMC Organises ‘Waste to Wonder’ Competition to Promote Recycling and City Beautification
Pimpri : The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has organised an innovative ‘Waste to Wonder’ competition for its regional offices on the occasion of Global Recycling Day, aiming to promote cleanliness, recycling and city beautification.
The competition is being conducted by the Health Department under the guidance of Mayor Ravi Landge, Deputy Mayor Sharmila Baber, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi and Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate. The initiative is being implemented across all eight regional offices covering 32 wards in the city.
The main objective of the competition is to encourage creative reuse of waste materials while promoting cleanliness and environmental awareness. Participants will transform scrap and waste materials into artistic and innovative installations, especially at garbage-sensitive locations, thereby converting unattractive spots into visually appealing public spaces.
Through this initiative, the civic body aims to spread awareness about waste management, recycling and sustainable living while enhancing the city’s beauty. The competition is expected to showcase creative artwork made from discarded materials and deliver a strong environmental message.
Officials expressed confidence that the initiative will not only promote cleanliness but also encourage eco-friendly habits among citizens and contribute to making the city cleaner, greener and more sustainable.
