Anna Bansode Felicitated by Ramdas Athawale on Appointment to People’s Education Society
Athawale says Bansode’s appointment will strengthen the society’s education initiatives
Pimpri-Chinchwad : Union Minister for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale said the appointment of Maharashtra Assembly Deputy Speaker Annasaheb Bansode to the governing body of the People’s Education Society (PES) was appropriate and would support the organisation’s efforts to expand access to quality education.
A civic felicitation ceremony for Bansode was held in Pimpri on Saturday, October 3, following his appointment to the society’s governing body. Athawale, who is the president of PES, felicitated Bansode at the event.
Athawale said Dr BR Ambedkar established the People’s Education Society on July 8, 1945, with the objective of empowering socially and economically disadvantaged sections through education. He said PES plans to establish a major educational campus in Pimpri-Chinchwad and expand its educational network across Maharashtra, with a long-term goal of providing quality education to around two lakh students annually.
Maharashtra Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat, MLAs Mahesh Landge and Gopichand Padalkar, former MLA Vilas Lande, and several other public representatives and social workers attended the ceremony.
Shirsat congratulated Bansode and said he would support the institution through the government in his capacity as a minister. He urged Bansode to use the responsibility entrusted to him for public welfare and the development of the institution.
Responding to the felicitation, Bansode said his appointment was not merely an honour but a major responsibility. He said the legacy of PES represented Dr Ambedkar’s vision of using education as an instrument of social transformation.
Bansode stressed the need to provide quality education and equal opportunities to economically weaker and disadvantaged students. He also highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence, digital education, research, skill development and employment-oriented education in the changing educational landscape.
He said he would work with trustees, teachers, employees, students, parents and society to strengthen the institution’s academic quality and reputation.
