Tina Sharma Gheware to Receive ‘Kalagaurav’ Award

Actress and social worker to be honoured for contribution to arts and artists

PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD : Actress and social worker Tina Sharma Gheware, who began her artistic journey in Pimpri-Chinchwad at the age of 13, has been selected for the ‘Kalagaurav’ Award in recognition of her contribution to the arts and social work for artists.

The award will be presented to her on Sunday, October 4, 2026, by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Artists Association at Nilubhau Fule Natyagruha in Navi Sangvi. Gheware, who has also appeared in the song “Bol Mai Halgi Bajau Kya,” said receiving the award in her birthplace would be an emotional and proud moment.

She recalled that her artistic journey began at the age of 13 from Ramkrishna More Natyagruha and said Pimpri-Chinchwad had given her recognition as an artist. She added that working for artists was her responsibility as a way of giving back to the city and the field of arts.

Gheware said Assembly Deputy Speaker Annasaheb Bansode had consistently supported initiatives concerning artists by understanding their difficulties, providing guidance and extending support to their issues.

According to Gheware, the award recognises her contribution to the arts, social work for artists and campaigns against DJ shows and programmes that she considers inappropriate.

She said the honour would motivate her to work with greater determination for artists, create platforms for emerging talent and raise issues affecting members of the artistic community.

“Recognition of one’s work gives the strength to work with greater enthusiasm. This honour brings new energy as well as a new responsibility,” she said.

Gheware thanked Annasaheb Bansode, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Artists Association, audiences, fellow artists, colleagues and well-wishers for their support.
