Niramay Hospital in Chinchwad Faces Sealing Action by LIC Housing Finance

• Police protection deployed as lender begins taking possession of mortgaged property

Pimpri-Chinchwad : Action to seal Niramay Hospital in Chinchwad, whose property is mortgaged with LIC Housing Finance, resumed on Wednesday as a team from the housing finance company arrived with police protection to take possession of the premises.

The lender’s team had earlier visited the hospital in July to take possession of the property. However, the action was deferred on humanitarian grounds as patients were undergoing treatment at the hospital. The hospital administration was subsequently instructed not to admit new patients and was given time to make necessary arrangements.

As the stipulated period ended without the expected action, the LIC Housing Finance team returned on Wednesday and began the process of sealing the premises in the presence of police.

The development briefly created tension in the area. The hospital administration’s next course of action and the further legal process are being closely watched.
