Upload Ganeshotsav Photos, Videos to Take PCMC’s Festivities Global: Civic Body
- Citizens urged to document household and public celebrations on Bappa.org
Pimpri-Chinchwad : Pimpri-Chinchwad residents have been urged to upload photographs and videos of their household and public Ganeshotsav celebrations on Bappa.org as part of a state-wide initiative to showcase Maharashtra’s rich Ganesh festival tradition on the global stage.
Public Relations Officer and nodal officer Praful Puranik said citizens, Ganesh mandals, artists, cultural and educational institutions, and social organisations should actively participate in the campaign and document their traditions, decorations, idols, rituals, cultural performances, food traditions, artwork and memories.
The Maharashtra Government has accorded State Festival status to Ganeshotsav and launched a wider campaign to promote the festival internationally and pursue global recognition, including UNESCO heritage recognition.
Under the initiative, the Directorate of Archaeology, under the Cultural Affairs Department, has launched Bappa.org. Citizens can submit photographs, videos and information about Ganeshotsav traditions through the platform, including celebrations from Maharashtra, across India and more than 35 cities worldwide.
Puranik said the participation of citizens would help create an official and permanent digital documentation of Maharashtra’s Ganeshotsav heritage. He appealed to residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad to participate in the campaign and upload their content in Marathi, Hindi, English or other convenient languages.
The PCMC will also undertake awareness and outreach activities, both physically and through digital platforms, to encourage wider public participation in the initiative.
