PCMC Ready for Anant Chaturdashi Immersion

• Medical teams, ambulances, firefighters, lifeguards and volunteers deployed at immersion points

Pimpri-Chinchwad : The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has completed preparations for Ganesh idol immersion on Anant Chaturdashi on Friday, with a focus on public safety and environmentally responsible immersion.

Medical teams, ambulances, trained firefighters, Aapda Mitra volunteers, snake rescuers, animal volunteers and lifeguards have been deployed at major immersion points. Emergency vehicles and other facilities have also been kept ready.

The civic body has arranged 41 artificial immersion ponds under the A, D and F regional offices. Idol collection centres and Nirmalya collection facilities have also been set up.

According to PCMC data, 49,803 Ganesh idols were collected/immersed between September 14 and 23, including 10,170 eco-friendly idols and 39,633 PoP idols. As of September 23, 22,647.25 kg of Nirmalya had been collected.

The civic administration has appealed to citizens to use designated immersion facilities, avoid disposing of idols and Nirmalya in natural water bodies, and cooperate with emergency and civic teams during the immersion process.

Artificial Immersion Ponds in A, D and F Regional Offices

According to the PCMC records, 10 artificial immersion ponds have been set up under the A Regional Office, 11 under the D Regional Office, and 20 under the F Regional Office.

Under the A Regional Office, immersion facilities with artificial ponds have been arranged at Spine Road, Yamunanagar; Mohannagar Cultural Bhavan; near Ganesh Talav, Sector 26 Pradhikaran; and the proposed Mayor’s residence ground, Sector 27 Pradhikaran.

In addition, idol collection centres have been arranged at Thackeray Ground, Yamunanagar; Spine Road, Yamunanagar; Vitthal Temple, Akurdi; near St Ursula School, Akurdi; Durge Chowk, Kalbhor Nagar; Mohannagar Cultural Bhavan; and Late Pandurang alias Kakabhau Auditorium, Akurdi Gaothan.
