Ganeshotsav Health Camps Reach Over 3 Lakh in Pune
- 6,586 free health camps held across district during 10-day festival
Pune : More than 3 lakh people were screened at 6,586 free health camps organised across Pune district during the 10-day Ganesh festival under the ‘Shree Ganesha Arogyacha’ initiative.
The camps were held in Pune city as well as rural areas, municipal councils, nagar panchayats and public Ganesh mandals, providing devotees access to basic health screening close to their homes and neighbourhoods.
A total of 3,01,843 people underwent check-ups during the initiative, conducted under the guidance of Rameshwar Naik, head of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Charitable Hospital Assistance Cell, Maharashtra.
The camps offered screening for blood pressure, diabetes, heart ailments, ECG, kidney disorders, cancer, dental problems and infectious diseases. Services also included physiotherapy, Ayurveda consultations, Ayushman card registration, organ donation registration and paediatric care.
Women were also screened for breast and cervical cancer, along with other health-related concerns.
Citizens requiring further evaluation or treatment were referred to specialist doctors and government, semi-government and charitable hospitals. Eligible patients were also guided about government healthcare schemes, including the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Dr Mansingh Sable coordinated the implementation of the initiative in Pune district, with participation from health officials, medical staff, local civic bodies, Ganesh mandals and social organisations.
Naik said the initiative aimed to use the large public participation during Ganeshotsav to promote preventive healthcare, early detection and awareness among citizens.
